The deadline for a period ending on 31 December 2026 is generally 30 September 2027. Confirm your own Tax Period before applying either date.

Understanding the Filing Timelineย

Standard Filing Deadlineย

The general filing and payment deadline is nine months after the relevant Tax Period ends. The FTAโ€™s September 2026 reminder specifically confirmed 30 September 2026 for periods ending on 31 December 2025, including taxpayers claiming Small Business Relief. This is not a universal date for every company. See also the FTA Corporate Tax General Guide.

Alternative Financial Year-Endsย

Companies with different financial year-ends follow the same 9-month rule:ย

  • Tax Period ending 31 May 2026 โ†’ General filing and payment deadline: 28 February 2027.
  • Tax Period ending 31 March 2026 โ†’ General filing and payment deadline: 31 December 2026.

The Federal Tax Authority may approve requests to extend or shorten the financial year in specific circumstances.ย

Who Must File Corporate Tax Returns?ย

Mandatory Filers Include:ย

  1. UAE Mainland Companies – All entities registered in UAE mainland jurisdictionsย
  1. Free Zone Companies – Including both Qualified Free Zone Persons (QFZP) and non-qualified entitiesย
  1. Individual Entrepreneurs โ€” Natural persons whose business activities fall within UAE Corporate Tax, subject to the applicable turnover threshold and exclusions.
  1. Permanent Establishments – Of non-resident companies operating in the UAEย
  1. Other Specified Entities – As defined by UAE tax lawย

Registration Prerequisiteย

All entities subject to corporate tax must register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and obtain a Tax Registration Number (TRN). This unique identifier is essential for filing returns and managing tax obligations.ย

  • Eligible Resident Persons must elect for relief for each relevant Tax Period. Qualifying Free Zone Persons and certain large multinational-group members cannot elect for it.
  • Important: Claiming Small Business Relief does not remove the obligation to file a Corporate Tax return.

Free Zone Benefits:ย

  • Qualified Free Zone Persons (QFZP) may qualify for 0% tax rateย
  • Must meet specific qualifying conditions and substance requirementsย

Penalties for Non-Complianceย

Understanding the penalty structure is crucial for compliance:ย
